# Abort Multipart Upload

> Discard an unfinished multipart upload and its uploaded parts.

Abort a multipart upload you no longer need. Its uploaded parts are discarded and the upload `id`
can no longer be completed; start a new upload with a new `Idempotency-Key` to try again.
Aborting is safe to repeat. A finalized file cannot be aborted.

## Response

`200` with `{ "id": "…", "aborted": true }`.

## Error Responses

* `400 upload_failed` - no multipart upload exists for this `fileId` in your scope, or it is
  already finalized
* `422 invalid_file_id` - `fileId` is not a UUID
